However, there’s much more to these handy little carts than meets the eye! Here are 10 fun facts that highlight the versatility and charm of golf carts: BEGINNING The first golf cart was initially invented in 1932, when Lyman Beecher of Clearwater, Florida built a rickshaw-style cart for golfers that was pulled by two caddies. Due to his inability to walk over long distances, Beecher created a rickshaw-type cart that a couple of caddies could carry. His invention debuted at the Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, North Carolina. VS. GAS You typically find two types of golf carts on the market: electric and gas-powered. Electric models are favored for their quiet operation, while gas-powered carts tend to have a bit more power and speed. LIMITS Most golf carts have a speed limit of around 15-25 mph. This may seem slow, but it’s just the right pace for navigating the gentle terrain of a golf course or cruising through a gated community. INSURANCE EXISTS While shows like The Office have had comedic scenes where characters unwittingly drive golf carts into a ditch, the grim reality is that there are actually thousands of golf-cart related accidents that happen in the US every single year. Some of these are tragic and unavoidable, while others happen due to negligence and recklessness — often from teenagers. It should come as no surprise, then, that many companies offer a specific type of insurance that is designed for golf carts. You’re probably well aware of this if you’re one of the many dealers who buys wholesale golf carts from us in bulk, but it’s nonetheless an important thing to know for any golf cart owner. USE Golf carts aren’t just for the golf course! They are commonly seen at beaches, theme parks, and college campuses. Golf carts are used far and wide, all over the world, for a variety of different purposes. As a golf cart wholesaler, who sells them in bulk to dealers all over the world, we know just how amazing golf carts are — but there are several fun facts about them that make them even more interesting. Want to learn a cool thing or two about golf carts? You’ve come to the right place. DESIGNED FOR DISABLED GOLFERS Did you know that golf carts weren’t originally designed for everyone to use? Indeed, they were actually made for disabled golfers who had a harder time traversing the massive golf courses on foot. Of course, it wasn’t long before fellow golfers saw how convenient the little vehicles were, and started asking, “How do we get in on that?” Over time, golf cart use started spreading until it became the de-facto mode of transportation through golf courses and other large properties. GO BACK TO THE 40’s The first golf carts go way back to the 40s, making them almost 80 years old at this point. While the very first golf carts originated in that decade, they didn’t start seeing widespread use until the early 50s — but when they did, they really took off! Golf courses are where these vehicles were born, but they quickly ended up spreading to retirement communities. Over time, many other industries would start adopting golf carts, such as hotel properties, and apartment complexes. PARADES ARE A THING Everyone loves a good parade, and what’s the point of having a cool golf cart if you can’t show it off? If you do an online search you’ll find that there are countless results for golf cart parades, some even carried out by huge corporate entities such as Disney. Golf cart parades often involve golf carts which have been extensively decorated to resemble a parade float. The biggest one ever was here in Florida, where there were over 3,300 participants. This was once the case for golf carts — these little vehicles aren’t quite full-sized cars, and when they were invented, they were almost exclusively used on golf courses. Can’t think of a reason to call it anything else! Unfortunately, as time has passed, the term “golf cart” is somewhat of a misnomer. Yes, golf carts are still a mainstay of golf courses, but today, they do so much more. In fact, according to Time Magazine, 85% of resold golf carts are used outside of the green in other businesses and venues. The golf cart has truly become an essential tool for property owners over a wide variety of different industries. Here are some of the many businesses which can prosper from having golf carts on-site — if you work in any of the following industries, consider asking us about our wholesale golf carts for sale in the Jacksonville area. CENTERS It’s easy to see why golf carts are super popular for retirement centers. First of all, many of these are full-fledged communities — the size of the property is no joke. It’s tremendously helpful for the administration to be able to get around quickly, especially since the elderly are more susceptible to health emergencies. Golf carts allow the workers to get to their senior residents with ease. Aside from that, there are obvious benefits for the senior citizens themselves. Golf carts are easy to drive and they relieve you of having to walk everywhere on foot. While young people can often afford to take a long stroll, many senior folks are much more physically limited. Golf carts are a boon in this sense; whether they’re driven by elderly residents, or used as shuttles to go back and forth, it’s easy to see why retirement communities are one of the most popular destinations for golf carts. When you think of the ideal farm vehicle, a golf cart probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. But hear us out — golf carts are incredible for farms! The big advantage of golf carts is their affordability. Farms are massive in size, and you quite often need a vehicle to get around. In the case where you have a lot of people working on-site, it gets pretty expensive to keep adding cars and trucks to your fleet. Golf carts achieve the same functional purpose as cars and trucks, but at a fraction of the price. This frees up the actual vehicles, should people need to leave the property, and it keeps costs down. If all you need is to get from Point A to Point B, there’s no reason to invest in expensive vehicles when there’s a much more affordable alternative. It’s funny that golf carts aren’t typically regarded as a very good off-road vehicle, because it’s totally contrary to the truth. Golf carts were specifically designed to traverse unpaved surfaces, particularly grass. While green lawns are a far cry from off-road Jeep routes, the point is that golf carts are perfectly capable of getting around on unpaved terrain. With that being said, it’s no surprise that they’re becoming ever more common in campgrounds. Campgrounds quite often have grassy or rocky terrain, interconnected by dirt roads. Again, the advantages of golf carts are obvious here. Campsite administrators can easily zip from camp to camp without having to invest in a car, and the open-air nature of the golf cart makes it a less imposing visitor to unsuspecting campers. People usually don’t want to be disturbed when they’re camping, so golf carts are a great choice for low-key transit over large campsites. RECREATIONAL AREAS While most everyday parks aren’t big enough to have an active “staff,” there are exceptions. Some parks and recreational areas cover vast amounts of space, and are overseen by park rangers, local security, or other officials. Sure, your neighborhood playground might not need a golf cart fleet, but some parks stretch as far as the eye can see, and in those instances, the benefits of a golf cart are clear. As golf cart wholesalers, we’ve sold to all kinds of different clients, and the government is one of them. If you’re looking for a solution to traverse huge properties such as parks, give us a call! COMPANIES This example is unique among the others on this list, because landscaping companies do most of their work on other people’s properties instead of their own. The advantage to them, then, is having a mobile fleet of golf carts which can be deployed if they’re working on a huge project. Landscaping work requires a lot of movement. You’re constantly moving materials back and forth, communicating across the team, surveying the area, and so on. Even if the lot isn’t exceptionally huge, having at least one golf cart can save them a lot of work. You may not need 10, 20, or 100 golf carts for this type of work, but having even just a few can significantly lighten the load. UNIVERSITIES It’s no secret that schools need to stretch their budget as far as humanly possible. It seems like such a waste, then, to waste so much money on cars that will only be used to navigate the campus. Are you in the education sector and you’re looking for ways to save money? Golf carts might be the answer if you haven’t invested in them already. As with retirement communities, golf carts can be a boon to both faculty and students. School officials can use them to travel all over the place, and they can also be employed as miniature shuttles. The biggest advantage of golf carts in a campus setting is that it

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR GOLF CART MAINTENANCE

However, it’s important to remember that, as useful as they are, they also need to be taken care of. Much like a car, computer, or any other piece of machinery, a long period of neglect can result in poor performance or even total failure. That’s why it’s important to know how to maintain your golf cart. As golf cart wholesalers in the Jacksonville area, we keep our vehicles in top shape, so we’re here with some tips and tricks on how to keep your golf carts properly maintained. Here are some maintenance tasks you should regularly perform on your fleet: & BATTERY LEVELS Whether your golf cart is electric or traditional, it’s important to make sure that you’re always keeping it juiced. Golf carts are often used by company staff to carry out operational tasks, and they’re also commonly provided for guests depending on the industry. But in either case, a golf cart that suddenly dies is no-bueno. It severely inconveniences your guests, and it could even disrupt company processes. With electric golf carts, we recommend plugging them in whenever they’re not in use. This makes things easier for everyone as they’ll always be ready to go at full power. For traditionally fueled carts, treat it like your car; once the fuel is down to a quarter tank, it’s time to fill up again. Ideally, though, you should have a refueling schedule for your fleet that prevents fuel from even getting that low. ON REPLACING THE BRAKES Much like a car, your golf cart brakes won’t just fail without warning; you’ll start seeing signs that it’s time to replace them. Of course, if these are ignored, it’s an accident waiting to happen. It’s extremely important to make sure that brakes are frequently replaced when their time has come, especially since golf carts spend most of their time driving in pedestrian-heavy areas. Aside from being a danger to other people, bad brakes can be life-threatening for passengers. The most obvious example is an actual golf course, which are quite often full of hills and slopes; you don’t need us to tell you why it’d be dangerous if your brakes stopped working on that kind of terrain. TIRE PRESSURE MONTHLY There are various problems that come from over- or under-inflated tires on cars, and the same principles apply with golf carts. If the air pressure is too high, it results in a bouncy and bumpy ride, and when the four wheels have different pressure levels, the uneven positioning causes wear-and-tear at an accelerated weight. Too low, and it damages the tire, creates excessive friction, and can lead to tread separation. Luckily, maintaining proper air pressure is easy. All you need is a pressure gauge, which you can find for less than $10 at a gas station or any auto part store. Once you’ve got that, just stick it into the tire, and you’ll get an air pressure reading. From there, you simply inflate it or let out air until you’ve reached the desired PSI rating. You’re usually aiming for somewhere in the 18-22 range, but you should consult the owner’s manual and tires for the ideal number, because it varies from vehicle to vehicle. CLEAN While it’s easy to just roll into a car wash when you want to clean up your main ride, it should be pretty obvious why that strategy wouldn’t work with a golf cart. We haven’t ridden through a car wash in an open vehicle ourselves, but we don’t imagine it’d be too much fun being blasted by high-pressure soap jets. So, to clean your golf carts, you’re going to have to take the initiative. Golf carts, unlike cars, often ride on a variety of different terrain, and it’s not uncommon for them to be exposed to the elements when they’re not in use. Many companies don’t have dedicated garages for their golf cart fleet, opting instead for carports or uncovered parking lots. Given that golf carts are open vehicles, the weather can take its toll on them. Golf carts could be damp from storms and precipitation or splattered with mud from previous rides. This is not only unsightly, but it can also be uncomfortable for passengers. Keep your golf carts clean, you won’t regret it! 5 QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN YOU’RE BUYING A GOLF CART

But just because we know a lot about golf carts doesn’t mean everyone else does. In fact, many of our customers know only one fact — that they need golf carts. If you don’t know much about golf carts, it can be difficult knowing which one to buy, especially when you’re presented with a selection such as the one we have at X-IT Outdoors — full of many different options. But don’t worry, we’re here to help. There are a few things you should consider when buying a golf cart, much less a whole fleet of them. Ask yourself the following questions when you’re shopping for a golf cart: MAKE & MODEL? If you’re anything like most other people, you probably don’t have a shortlist of golf cart makes, models, and serial numbers that you’ve memorized. That’s okay; if you knew everything in the world about golf carts, we probably would have asked for you to work with us by now. When you’re shopping for golf carts, you don’t need to know every little thing about every golf cart model, but on the other hand, you also don’t want to go in blind. The best compromise, then, is to know where to start if you want to quickly learn some valuable information about the carts you’re looking at. In that regard, you’ll benefit a lot from paying attention to the make, model, and serial number of the golf cart in question. These things can all provide valuable information about the vehicle with just a little more research. The serial number can reveal how old the golf cart is, and there will be useful information about the make and model, such as parts availability and overall reliability. As a general rule of thumb, golf carts aren’t terribly complex machines, which means that they tend to age pretty well. But if you want to play things safe by buying a newer model, that’s a totally valid approach. But without doing basic research about the golf carts you’re looking at, you might not get the information you need. Alternatively, feel free to ask us about the wholesale golf carts in our inventory; we’d be happy to answer any questions you might have. THE GOLF CART BE USED FOR? While most people conjure up a pretty similar image when they’re asked to visualize a golf cart, the reality is that there are many different features you can equip your golf cart with. You not only should know which ones you’re looking for, but you should know how to identify what the golf carts you’re looking at. At X-IT Outdoors, our wholesale selection varies wildly, from simple basics to highly versatile and advanced vehicles. The first and most obvious question is why you need golf carts in the first place. For example, will your golf carts be driving over rough terrain and hills? You’re going to want a golf cart with sufficient power and wheels to handle that. Are your golf carts intended to transport senior citizens or hotel tenants? It’s probably better to look for carts that have generous seating. We could go on with a dozen more examples, but the point is that golf carts aren’t created equally — each one of them is designed to fulfill a specific need. While there is plenty of overlap, you don’t want to overpay buying a golf cart that’s loaded with features you’ll never use. GOLF CARTS NEED TO BE LICENSED? At X-IT Outdoors, we operate out of Jacksonville, but we’ve had clients from other states and municipalities. Depending on where you’re planning on using your golf carts, they may need to be licensed. It’s easy to assume this is only if they’re driving in the streets, but on the contrary, many municipalities demand a license even just for normal use. We can help point you in the right direction if you need your golf carts to be licensed. But this is something you should be aware of before you make your purchase — you don’t want to purchase an entire fleet and then realize you’re not even qualified to drive them! OF GAS IS BEST? Golf carts are much smaller and simpler than the average car, making them an ideal candidate for electric motors. But that doesn’t mean every golf cart is battery powered. There are plenty of carts that take traditional gasoline or diesel, and these aren’t really better or worse — it depends on your situation. Each setup has its own pros and cons. Electric golf carts are nice because they can be recharged, meaning you don’t have to endlessly put gas into them. But if you’re buying a fleet, you’ll need to determine whether or not you have the capacity to charge all of them, and you should also keep in mind that electric batteries may need to be replaced after a certain amount of usage. Gas carts have the pros and cons you’ll find in any traditional vehicle — you’ll be regularly paying for gasoline, but it’s also more straightforward and consistently dependable. If you’re unsure of what fuel type is ideal for your fleet, don’t be afraid to ask us! We can help you determine what kind of golf cart is the most well-suited for your organization. DO YOU WANT? The fun thing about golf carts is their potential to be decked out with all manner of accessories. You can load up your golf cart with special racks, seats, mirrors, windshields, and so on. Some of the golf carts in our inventory already have these features built-in. Before you
